Saša Marković Microbe (October 21st 1959, Belgrade, SFRY – July 15th 2010, Belgrade, Serbia), also known as Mexican, Bridegroom, Bamboo and Ganesha, was a visual artist, journalist, radio host, social worker and in a lot of ways a unique phenomenon in the Serbian alternative and art scene. The joint project of the MCA and Remont “Goodbye Underground: Saša Marković Microbe” is a homage to this untimely deceased artist in the form of a retrospective, thematic exhibition and monograph.
Center for visual culture of the Museum of Contemporary Art presents the results of the film workshop realized as a part of the research project ''From dionysian socialism to predatory capitalism''. Through team work and continuous discussions, and under expert supervision of the mentor Želimir Žilnik, the participants of the workshop have explored cultural developments in Serbia and Yugoslavia during the second half of the 20th century. The exhibition Hotel Jugoslavija at the Salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art is the first presentation of artist Mladen Bizumić in Belgrade and Serbia. The exhibition features Bizumić's video film (in collaboration with artist Jim Speers) that was developed as a result of investigatian and observation of the current state of this building. The video film is shown next to an environment comprised of sculptural material dislocated from the hotel itself - re-structured fragments and details of its previous life, currently suspended.
